Welcome
The Office of Disability Services assists students with identified learning and other disabilities by providing the support they need to become successful college graduates. Disability Services provides academic coaching, alternative testing, assistance with technology, tutoring, practical solutions to learning problems, counseling, and self-concept enhancement.
Students with identified learning or other disabilities are mainstreamed in the University community.
Four Step Process for registering with the Office of Disability Services
- Be accepted as a student at Appalachian State University.
- Complete the "Voluntary Disability Disclosure" form.
- Mail or fax your in-depth, current, and comprehensive documentation (please review Documentation Guidelines specific to your needs)along with the above disclosure form to:

- After ODS has received and reviewed your documentation, you will be contacted to schedule an individual meeting with the Director or Assistant Director. An Accommodation Plan will be created based on documentation of a substantial limitation. No accommodations can be provided until this four step process is complete.
Please allow the Office of Disability Services four to six weeks to process your documentation.
